CHAMPION OF HEALTH AWARD RECIPIENTS:

Since 2006, the AKC's Canine Health Foundation (CHF), in conjunction with the OFA, has offered an award program for those breed clubs participating in the CHIC Program. Each parent club is invited to select from those eligible a short list of the five best qualified dogs that have both completed the CHIC requirements for the breed while excelling in the breed at a national level. From this short list the CHF then selects one dog from that breed to each year be awarded the prestigious "Champion Of Heath" title. The GDCA is proud to be a participant in the CHIC program, and has received accolades from the CHF & OFA for the high quality of the dogs that have been sent in consideration. Below are the awardees of the CHAMPION OF HEALTH for the Great Dane breed.

2008: BIS, BISS & AOM CH Longo's Alana Fontana: #1 Great Dane in 2003, 2004 Top 20 Winner. Dam to multiple AOM CH/CHIC offspring. Hall Of Fame Dane. Alana was bred by Tootie Longo, Susan Yotive & Kathy Fontana, owned by the Tootie Longo, Dave & Jay Miller. Handled by Laura Lynn Coomes. CHIC#20222

2007: BISS & AOM CH Avanti’s All for One Elan: Top 20 Dane 2001-2003. Two time National Specialty BOS, 2-time AOM Winner & 2-time National Stud Dog Class Winner; sire to multiple CH/CHIC offspring. Register of Merit & Hall of Fame Dane. Redford was bred by Artisee & Lisa Folz, John & Jessie Gerszewski. Owned by Robert & Linda Tonnacour & Lisa Folz. Handled by Doug Toomey. CHIC#22363

2006: BISS Champion CHROMA Thief Of Hearts, CD, RA, OA, AXJ, OJC, NAC, TDIA, CGC. Nationally ranked in breed, obedience, agility and rally sports; titled therapy dog. CH/CHIC offspring & offspring with advanced titles ranked nationally in all dog sports. GDCA Versalitity Award & GDCA Hall Of Fame Dane. Pirate is bred, owned, trained & handled by JP Yousha.
