Hi
Dane Lovers!
The GDCA Charitable Trust is proud to announce a new
fundraising program:
Birdies for Charity at the Regions Charity Classic.
Birdies for Charity is a program that
allows the Charitable Trust the opportunity to
generate contributions for our organization
based on the number of “birdies” made by Champions
Tour players Friday through Sunday during the
Regions Charity Classic. All you have to do is go
online and donate a minimum of $.02 per birdie or a
minimum $10 flat donation in the name of the Great
Dane Club of America Charitable Trust, and every
penny of those donations will go to the Charitable
Trust! The following example shows how the value of
a single pledge is calculated:
|
-Individual Pledge - $.02 per birdie x 800
birdies = $16 pledge |
In golf, a
“birdie” is a score of one stroke better than “par”
for any golf hole on the golf
course. “Par” is the normal expected score of a golf
professional on any given hole. Total “birdies” made
at the Regions Charity Classic in the past few years
are as follows:
2005 Tournament – 783 birdies
2006 Tournament – 800 birdies
2007 Tournament - 808 birdies |
In addition to making a donation to help our
wonderful Danes, you will also be
entered in the “Guess the Birdies” contest where the
Grand Prize is a cruise from the
Norwegian Cruise Lines. Also, the Top 3 performing
charities will get “Bonus Bucks,”
meaning that the tournament will match the funds
collected by those charities up to a
certain amount. Let’s make the GDCA Charitable Trust
NUMBER ONE!
The Regions Charity Classic is a Champions Tour
event in Birmingham, Alabama
that draws over 100,000 spectators and has given
almost $10 million to various charities in its 17
year run. Champions Tour players such as Tom Kite,
Jerry Pate, and Curtis Strange are confirmed to play
in this year’s tournament and celebrities such as
Charles Barkley, Lucas Black, Nick Saban, and Steve
Spurrier are confirmed to play in the Pro-Am. The
tournament takes place May 16th – 18th, and will be
broadcast on the Golf Channel nightly from 5:30 to
8:00. Be sure and tune in and see who’s making the
birdies!

The deadline to pledge is May 19th, so donate
HERE now!
Sincerely,
Jay Miller

Thank you so much to those of you who are taking
advantage of the Birdies Tent at The Regions Charity
Classic! I have 37 charities signed up over 5 days
(Wed-Sun) manning the booth and trying to get those
last minute pledges. I still have 3 spots open (1 on
Saturday 8-12 & 2 spots on Sunday 8-12). Please let
me know ASAP if you would like these any of these
spots, so I can send you your credentials. The tent
is 10’x20’ with two 8’ tables (2 charities sharing a
table).
I am VERY proud to say that The Rick & Bubba Show
(thanks Speedy!) are also promoting The Regions
Charity Classic and Birdies for Charity, so listen
to them in the morning! Look for a The Rick and
Bubba Show logo at the bottom of the Birdies for
Charity Page and visit their website.
Hopefully I will get to meet everyone next week and
don’t stop getting those pledges. Get Excited!!!
Thanks,
