Dear GDCA Member:

As some of you know the Board recently made some changes in the National Specialty Rules regarding who may exhibit at the National Specialty. It is important to the Board that any such changes are well thought out and are consistent with highest standards of Sportsmanship. In my presidents message in January I asked for your input concerning this issue and until this week I had received negative input from one club.

The proposed change in the Futurity would have not taken effect until 2014. The Board wanted only to open participation at every level. Please remember it is not the Board or the division officers who elect the judges for the national or the futurity, it is the membership. Based on member input and further thought the Board is going to revisit the rest of the proposed changes at its next regularly scheduled meeting in August.
